London in rearview, now in Zurich

Flew to Zurich today where I'll be until Wed morning. Didn't arrive until late in the afternoon but still enough time to stroll in late September sunshine. Walked over to the Google office to get my bearings and then happened upon various Swiss folks doing the things Swiss people do, which basically seems to be kissing, smoking and eating ice cream.

Lost in Translation

Okay, it's not Tokyo and I'm no Billy Murray, but the jet lag bug has got me. Another night with trouble falling asleep. Never a night owl anyway, all i want is some zzzzzzz. I hear flying west is easier than east because all you need to do is stay up later, not try to fall asleep earlier. Now they tell me....

The Birthday Upgrade Strategy Does Not Work

Yesterday was my birthday and I spent my evening on a plane crossing the Atlantic. Work is taking me to London, Zurich and Seattle for the next two weeks meaning lots of air time and likely some Airborne. Which, by the way, despite what the woman sitting behind me insisted, IS supposed to be added to water and not chewed like an effervescent vitamin.

Despite our runaway economic success, my company is still pretty sensible when it comes to travel expenses so I flew coach to Heathrow. Used almost all my tricks to try and snag an upgrade from economy but alas it was not to be. Fortunately, I was able to snag one of the limited seats with extra legroom - 29K.

Now I'm in London, back from a stroll outside (sunlight fights jet lag) and preparing for a quick workout before spending the rest of the night on my laptop cranking through emails and finishing a presentation I need to deliver tomorrow morning.

Poor little corn dogs

I will be attending the Texas State Fair. Unfortunately, it will be after the World Corny Dog Eating Championship.

Rocky Mountain High

Caroline and I flew into Aspen last night to begin the celebration of Kate Nitze's wedding. It's been two years since we last visited but the town still has the familiar mix of easy going crunchiness and ridiculous wealth. The St. Regis gave us a junior suite so i've been enjoying the complimentary dark chocolate, although not to the degree that I won't look forward to tonight's dinner at the Hickory House. Hey, we hiked Hunter's Creek Trail today so I deserve it!
