Southern Exposure

I've always associated columns and colonial architecture with the South but there are lots of examples from New England as well. Anyone know which region inspired our design?

(BTW, they took their wreath so we're in the market for some door decorations)

Update: My wife suggests it's "Craftsman," popularized around the turn of the 20th century.

Comments:
I'd say the house is more neo-colonial. It looks as though there might have been a change in the façade, but that would take a little house history hunting. Though there are lots of craftsman exteriors in your neck of the woods, a covered porches, exposed joinery, and simpler facades are more the hallmark of Craftsman homes. The interior might be more craftsman style though, it was certainly built during the correct time frame.

I'd agree on the "neo-colonial" assessment. Frankly, there are few homes in SF with the look of yours. Do you know anything about who built the home? Sometimes in the basement there's a builder's plaque. You should also ask some of the sweet, old neighbors, about who built their homes. Surprisingly, some of these builders are still in operation. If you can find the company/contractor/builder, you might get some valuable information that will answer your question.
